March 9, 2012

The 2012 ACC tourney starts on March 8, in Atlanta Georgia, with the UNC Tar Heels going in at a strong number one seed (27-4, 14-2 ACC). The tournament starts off with #8 Maryland v #9 Wake Forest, with the winner going on to play the Heels on Friday, March 9th. However, the Tar Heels are not going uncontested. The painful memories of the UNC verse FSU match, with the Heels being demolished 57-90 at the Seminole's home court, and of Austin River's legendary buzzer beater are still fresh in our minds as the Heels progress forward. Their improvement has been undeniable, however – the UNC team has won 12 out of their past 13 games since then, with the one loss coming from the stunning 85-84 Blue Devils game. Their big win, though, came last Saturday which also secured their number one spot in the ACC conference, beating Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium 88- 70. The tournament lasts four days, with the Championship Game on Sunday, March 11th, at one PM. This will be a game to watch, with high contesters Duke, Florida State, and UNC Chapel Hill all competing for the title.
